Privacy Policy for ZapShare

ZapShare (we, our, or us) values your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how ZapShare collects, uses, and protects information when you use the ZapShare mobile application (“App”). This policy is provided to comply with Google Play Developer Program Policies.

1. Information Collection and Use

ZapShare is a peer-to-peer (P2P) file-sharing application. We do not collect personal data for analytics, advertising, or tracking purposes. We only use the minimum permissions required for the App’s core functionality.

2. App Permissions and Data Usage

A. Location Permission (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION)

Why this permission is requested:
On certain Android versions, the system requires location permission to enable Wi-Fi Direct and Bluetooth device discovery.

How it is used:

Used only to discover and connect to nearby devices

Required by the Android operating system, not for location tracking

Data handling:

ZapShare does not collect, store, or share GPS location data

No physical address or location history is recorded

Location-related data is processed locally and temporarily on the device

B. Nearby Devices Permission (NEARBY_WIFI_DEVICES)

For devices running Android 13 (API level 33) and above, ZapShare uses the NEARBY_WIFI_DEVICES permission to discover nearby devices without accessing location data, in accordance with Google Play privacy requirements.

C. File and Media Access

Permissions used:

READ_MEDIA_IMAGES

READ_MEDIA_VIDEO

READ_MEDIA_AUDIO

READ/WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (on older Android versions)

Purpose:

Allow users to select files to share

Save received files to the device

Data handling:

ZapShare accesses only the files explicitly selected by the user

No background scanning of storage or media libraries

Files are never uploaded to servers or cloud storage

All file transfers occur directly between devices

D. Device Information

Basic device information (such as device name) may be displayed during the device discovery process so users can identify nearby devices. This information is not stored or shared externally.

3. Data Sharing

ZapShare does not sell, rent, or share personal data with third parties

No advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, or tracking tools are used

No data is transmitted to external servers

4. Data Security

All file transfers occur over secure local connections using encryption protocols provided by Wi-Fi Direct (such as WPA2-PSK). ZapShare does not retain transferred data after the transfer is completed.

5. Children’s Privacy

ZapShare does not target children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child has provided personal data, please contact us immediately.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as required by law or Google Play policies. Any changes will be reflected in this document with an updated revision date.
