This Privacy Policy describes how Temperature Monitor ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use our Android application (the "App").
We value your privacy. Temperature Monitor is designed as a privacy-first, offline-capable utility. We do not collect, transmit, sell, or monetize your personal data or device statistics.
1. Information We Access and Process
To provide real-time thermal and battery monitoring, the App accesses system status information provided directly by the Android operating system.
The types of metrics processed locally include:
Thermal Status: CPU, system, and hardware thermal throttling states provided by Android's PowerManager.
Battery Data: Battery temperature, level, voltage, and charging state provided by system intent broadcasts.
Device Settings: App-specific user preferences (such as preferred temperature unit: Celsius or Fahrenheit).
Local Storage Only
All logged historical readings, thermal status updates, and App configurations are stored exclusively on your local device using encrypted or sandboxed local storage mechanisms (such as Android Room and DataStore). This data remains on your physical device at all times and is never uploaded to any remote servers.
2. Background Processing & Services
The App includes a foreground monitoring service and home screen widgets to display real-time status updates:
Foreground Service: When activated, the service runs locally on your device to update status notifications and widgets. It operates strictly within your device environment.
Home Screen Widgets: App widgets retrieve and render local preferences and temperature states directly from the App’s local storage.
3. Data Collection and Sharing
No Personal Data Collection: We do not collect names, email addresses, precise geolocation, device identifiers (IMEI/Android ID), or contact lists.
No Third-Party Analytics or Trackers: The App does not contain third-party SDKs, analytics frameworks (e.g., Firebase Analytics, Google Analytics), or advertising networks.
No Data Transmissions: The App operates entirely offline for its core features and does not transmit your battery or temperature metrics over the internet.
4. Permissions
The App requests only the minimal system permissions required to deliver its core functionality:
POST_NOTIFICATIONS (Android 13+): Required strictly to display the ongoing temperature and thermal status notification in your status bar.
FOREGROUND_SERVICE / FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USE (Android 14+): Required to keep the local temperature monitoring active continuously without being killed by system memory management.
You can grant or revoke these permissions at any time through your device's native system settings.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
Because all App data is stored entirely on your local device:
Clearing Data: You can clear all cached history and saved preferences at any time via Android System Settings (Settings > Apps > Temperature Monitor > Storage > Clear Data).
Uninstallation: Uninstalling the App immediately and permanently removes all stored logs, databases, and widget preferences from your device.
6. Children's Privacy
The App does not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in certain jurisdictions), nor does it target content toward children.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in App functionality, legal requirements, or system guidelines. Any updates will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
