1. Introduction

TabTap ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our TabTap Chrome extension ("Extension").

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information Directly Collected

Currently, TabTap does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information outside your browser. All tab-related functions (search, organization, management, and restoration) are performed locally within your browser.

2.2 Local Storage

TabTap stores the following information locally in your browser's storage:

  • Theme preferences (light/dark mode)
  • Recently closed tabs (limited to the most recent 50 tabs)
  • User interface settings

This data never leaves your device and is used solely to provide the Extension's functionality.

2.3 Permission Usage

TabTap requires several browser permissions to function:

  • Tabs: To access and manage your browser tabs
  • Storage: To save your preferences and recently closed tabs
  • Scripting: To interact with Chrome's tab management system
  • Notifications: To alert you about tab actions
  • Tab Groups: To identify and display tab group information

3. Future Authentication Features

In the future, we may implement user authentication for premium features. If implemented, we will:

  • Collect email addresses and authentication credentials
  • Process this data in accordance with GDPR requirements
  • Update this privacy policy with detailed information about data processing
  • Obtain appropriate consent before collecting any personal data

4. Third-Party Services

TabTap does not currently use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. If you use our optional "Buy Me a Coffee" support link, you will be directed to an external service with its own privacy policy.

5. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your locally stored data. Since no data is transferred to external servers, the risk of data breaches is minimal.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on the Chrome Web Store listing. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
