Privacy Policy — Sutra

Last updated: June 11, 2026

Sutra ("Sutra," "we," "us," or "the app") is a yoga-class builder and player for iPhone and Apple Watch. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

  • Account information (name and email). When you sign in with Apple, we receive your name and an email address (which may be Apple's private relay address). We use this only to create and identify your account.
  • Content you choose to publish. When you publish a class, its structure — block names, durations, and pose lists — is stored in our cloud so other users can discover and copy it. Classes you do not publish remain on your device.
  • An account identifier. We store a user ID to associate your account with the classes you publish.
  • Usage data. We collect basic, app-functionality analytics — such as when the app is opened, when a class is started, completed, or published — using Mixpanel. This is associated with your account identifier and is used to understand how the app is used and improve it. It is not used for advertising or cross-app tracking.
  • Diagnostic data. We collect crash reports and performance/diagnostic data using Sentry to find and fix problems. Crash reports may be associated with your account identifier. They do not include your health data or music.
  • Feedback you send us. If you send a bug report or feedback from within the app (by shaking your device to open the report form), we receive what you type, and — to help us respond — your name, app version, device model, the current screen, and recent in-app diagnostic logs (scrubbed of obvious secrets). A screenshot is included only if you leave the "Include screenshot" toggle on. Reports are routed to our private issue tracker for the sole purpose of fixing problems and improving the app. They are not used for advertising or shared for marketing.
  • Profile Photos  If you choose to add a profile photo, we store it with your account and display it to other users of the app alongside your name and published classes. You can replace or remove your photo at any time from the Profile tab. Your photo is permanently deleted when you remove it or delete your account.

Information we do NOT collect

  • Health and fitness data. When you run a class, the app may log a Yoga workout to Apple Health on your device. That information stays in Apple Health and is never transmitted to us.
  • Music data. We do not collect your music library, playlists, or listening history. The app only sends play, pause, skip, and volume commands to the Apple Music app on your phone.
  • We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not track you across other apps or websites. We do not sell your information.

How your information is stored and shared

Account information and published-class content are stored using Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore). We use Mixpanel for usage analytics and Sentry for crash and diagnostic reporting. These providers process data on our behalf, each governed by its own privacy policy. We do not sell your information or share it with third parties for their own marketing.

Your choices

  • You can unpublish any class at any time (Profile → Published, or Discover → your name) to remove it from our cloud. Users who already downloaded a copy keep their own copy.
  • You can delete your account at any time from within the app (Profile → Delete Account). This permanently removes your account, your published classes, your profile, and your block list. You may also contact us at the email below.

Children

Sutra is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above.
