OVERVIEW

This Privacy Policy describes how Coco: Sticker Collage Maker (the mobile application operated by Oliver Bauer, "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Coco app on iOS and Android.

Coco is a sticker and collage maker. You can create and edit collages using photos, videos, stickers, text, audio, and other creative elements. Most of your content stays on your device. We only send data off your device when you use certain optional features described below (such as premium background removal) or when third-party services integrated into the app process data as described in this policy.

SUMMARY

- Photos, videos, collages, notes, and stickers: stored on your device by default. They leave your device only if you export, share them, or use Premium Background Removal.

- Subscriptions: processed by Apple or Google. Subscription status is shared with Adapty and our server for premium features.

- Advertising measurement: handled by the Meta SDK (on iOS only with your permission via App Tracking Transparency).

- Feature requests: only if you submit feedback through Featurebase.

INFORMATION WE COLLECT AND HOW WE USE IT

1. Content You Create (Stored Locally)

Coco stores your collages, notes, stickers, settings, and related media on your device. This includes:

- Photos and videos you add as stickers
- Text, layouts, and creative edits
- Voice note stickers (audio recordings)
- Video stickers
- App settings and preferences

We do not upload your collages, notes, or sticker library to our servers for storage or cloud sync. Coco does not provide cloud backup or sync between devices.

You can export or share content using your device's share sheet. When you do, that sharing is handled by the app or service you choose (Messages, Instagram, Files, etc.), not by us.

2. Photos, Camera, and Microphone (Permissions)

Coco may request the following permissions:

- Photo Library: to select photos and videos for stickers and to save exported collages to your library
- Camera: to capture photos and record video stickers
- Microphone: to record audio for voice note stickers and video stickers with sound

You can revoke these permissions at any time in your device settings. Without them, related features will not work.

On-device processing: For most features, including standard (on-device) background removal on supported devices, images are processed locally and are not sent to our servers.

3. Premium Background Removal (Server Processing)

If you have an active premium subscription and choose Premium Background Removal, the selected image is:

1. Sent from your device to our backend (hosted on Supabase)
2. Forwarded to PhotoRoom for AI background removal
3. Returned to your device as a processed image

What is transmitted: the image you select for removal, plus an anonymous subscription profile identifier (Adapty profile ID) so we can verify your premium access and enforce usage limits.

What is not stored by us: we do not permanently store your uploaded images on our servers. Images are processed for the request and discarded afterward. PhotoRoom's handling of data is governed by PhotoRoom's Privacy Policy: https://www.photoroom.com/legal/privacy

Usage limits: we store a monthly usage counter linked to your Adapty profile ID (not your name or email) to enforce fair-use limits on premium removals.

4. Subscriptions and Purchases

Coco offers optional premium features through in-app subscriptions processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We do not receive your payment card or bank details.

We use Adapty to:

- Display paywalls and manage subscription access
- Verify whether your subscription is active
- Restore purchases

Adapty may process device and subscription-related information (such as app version, platform, purchase status, and an anonymous profile ID). See Adapty's Privacy Policy: https://adapty.io/privacy-policy/

When you make a new subscription purchase (not a restore), we may send conversion events to Meta (see section 5), including product identifier and price information, to measure advertising effectiveness.

5. Analytics and Advertising Measurement (Meta SDK)

We use the Meta (Facebook) SDK to measure advertising performance, app installs, and campaign effectiveness. The Meta SDK may collect or receive:

- App events (such as app opens and subscription conversions)
- Device information (device model, OS version, app version)
- IP address and approximate location derived from IP
- Advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, where permitted; Android advertising ID on Android)

iOS — App Tracking Transparency (ATT): On iOS, tracking-related data collection through Meta is subject to Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework. If you decline tracking permission, personalized advertising measurement may be limited. Meta may still receive aggregated or limited event data as permitted by Apple's policies.

Subscription events: After a successful new purchase through our paywall, we log events such as "Start Trial" or "Purchase" to Meta, including product ID and price, for conversion measurement. We do not send these events for restored purchases.

We do not use AppsFlyer.

6. Support and Feature Requests

If you contact us by email at heycocosupport@gmail.com, we receive the information you include in your message (such as your email address and the content of your request) so we can respond.

If you use "Request feature" in the app, you may be directed to Userjot. Any information you submit there is handled according to Userjot's privacy practices.

7. Information We Do Not Collect

Coco does not:

- Require you to create an account
- Collect your name, email, or contact details unless you contact us
- Sell your personal information
- Use third-party crash reporting or product analytics SDKs (such as Firebase Analytics, Sentry, or PostHog) in the current version of the app

Diagnostic data may still be collected by Apple or Google through their operating systems (for example, crash reports if you opt in to share analytics with Apple).

HOW WE USE INFORMATION

We use the information described above to:

- Provide app functionality (including premium background removal)
- Verify subscription status and enforce usage limits
- Process and restore in-app purchases through Adapty
- Measure advertising and subscription campaign effectiveness through Meta
- Improve app reliability and user experience
- Respond to support requests
- Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information.

SHARING OF INFORMATION

We may share limited information with the following recipients:

- Apple / Google: in-app purchase and subscription processing
- Adapty: subscription management, paywalls, access verification
- Supabase: hosting our premium background removal backend and usage counters
- PhotoRoom: AI background removal processing
- Meta: advertising measurement and conversion tracking
- Featurebase: feature request submissions (if you use that feature)

We do not share or sell your photos, videos, collages, notes, or sticker library for advertising purposes.

We may also disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect our rights, users, or safety.

DATA RETENTION

- Collages, notes, stickers, media: remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app
- Premium removal images: processed transiently; not permanently stored on our servers
- Premium usage counters: retained per monthly billing period for limit enforcement
- Subscription data (Adapty): retained according to Adapty's policies while relevant to your subscription
- Support emails: retained as long as needed to resolve your request
- Meta / Adapty analytics data: retained according to each provider's policies

YOUR CHOICES AND RIGHTS

You can:

- Manage permissions (photos, camera, microphone) in your device settings
- Limit tracking on iOS via Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking
- Cancel subscriptions through your Apple ID or Google Play account settings
- Delete local data by deleting content in the app or uninstalling Coco
- Contact us at heycocosupport@gmail.com to ask questions or request deletion of any data we hold about you (such as support correspondence or server-side usage records tied to your Adapty profile ID)

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), UK, or Switzerland, you may have additional rights under applicable data protection law, including the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, object, and data portability. You may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

LEGAL BASIS (EEA / UK USERS)

Where GDPR applies, we process personal data on the following bases:

- Providing the app and premium features: performance of a contract / steps at your request
- Subscription verification (Adapty, Supabase): performance of a contract
- Premium background removal: performance of a contract (your request to process an image)
- Advertising measurement (Meta): legitimate interests and/or your consent (ATT on iOS)
- Support requests: legitimate interests / performance of a contract
- Legal compliance: legal obligation

INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS

Coco is operated from Germany. Third-party providers (Adapty, Meta, PhotoRoom, Supabase, Featurebase) may process data in countries outside your country of residence, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses offered by those providers.

CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

Coco is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at heycocosupport@gmail.com and we will take steps to delete it.

SECURITY

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information processed through our services. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. Content stored on your device is protected by your device's security features (passcode, biometrics, etc.).

THIRD-PARTY LINKS AND SERVICES

This Privacy Policy does not apply to third-party websites or services you access through Coco (such as Userjot or social sharing destinations). Please review their privacy policies separately.

CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of Coco after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. For material changes, we may provide additional notice in the app where appropriate.
