1. Nature of the Service

SmartWang is an AI-powered financial tracking application developed as a Final Year Project. It is designed to assist users in visualizing their spending habits by analyzing bank statements.

2. Privacy & Data Handling (Critical)

We take your privacy seriously. By using the "Statement Upload" feature, you acknowledge and agree to the following data handling procedures:

Stateless Processing: When you upload a PDF bank statement, it is transmitted securely to our backend for immediate processing. We do not permanently store your raw PDF files. The file is held in memory only for the duration of the analysis and is discarded immediately after extraction.

Third-Party AI Processing: This application uses Google Gemini (Generative AI) to parse and categorize your transaction data. By using this service, you consent to your anonymized transaction data being processed by Google's API for the sole purpose of generating financial insights.

Data Retention: We only store the extracted transaction data (e.g., "Date: 01/01/2025, Merchant: KFC, Amount: RM 20, Category: Food") and your user profile information (Income, Goals) in our secure database (Firebase).

3. Financial Disclaimer

SmartWang is NOT a licensed financial advisor. The insights, predictions, and "time-to-goal" calculations provided by the AI are for informational and educational purposes only. They are based on patterns found in your data and may not account for external economic factors. You should not rely on this app as the sole basis for major financial decisions.

4. User Responsibility

You agree to redact (black out) sensitive information such as your full bank account number or home address before uploading statements, although our system is designed to ignore these fields automatically.

5. Educational Use

This application is a student project. While we strive for security, we cannot guarantee the same level of data protection as a commercial banking institution. Use at your own risk.
