Privacy Policy for Simmer
Last updated: 28 July 2026
In one sentence: Simmer does not collect, transmit or share any personal data. Everything you enter stays on your device.
WHO WE ARE
Simmer ("the app") is developed by Aura Labs ("we", "us"). This policy explains how the app handles information. It applies to the Android app distributed on Google Play under the package name com.auralabs.simmer.
WHAT WE COLLECT
Nothing. The app contains no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising SDKs and no third-party libraries that transmit data. We do not operate any server that the app communicates with.
Simmer is installed without the INTERNET permission. This is not merely a promise — it is enforced by the Android operating system itself: the app is technically incapable of sending data anywhere. You can verify this on the app's Google Play listing under "App permissions", which reads "No permissions required".
WHAT STAYS ON YOUR DEVICE
The content you create is stored only in the app's private storage on your phone:
- Recipes you add or edit, including your notes and ratings
- Your meal plan, shopping list and pantry items
- Your cooking history and statistics
- Your settings: theme, unit system, default servings, calorie target
No other app can read this data. It is removed completely when you uninstall Simmer. If you have enabled Android's automatic backup in your own Google account settings, Android may include this data in your device backup. That backup belongs to you and is governed by Google's Privacy Policy, not by us. We never receive it.
SHARING
Simmer can share a recipe or a shopping list as plain text when you tap the share button. At that moment Android's standard share sheet passes the text to the app you choose — a messenger, an email client, a notes app. Nothing is sent unless you choose to send it, and we are not involved in that transfer.
CHILDREN
The app is suitable for all ages and does not collect data from anyone, including children under 13.
PERMISSIONS
Simmer requests no runtime permissions and declares no permissions in its manifest. It does not access your camera, microphone, contacts, location, files or network.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
If a future version of the app ever changes how data is handled, this page will be updated before that version is published, and the "last updated" date above will change.
