Privacy Policy for ScanTo
Effective Date: August 21, 2026
1. Introduction
Welcome to ScanTo. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile application. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you understand exactly how your data is handled.
The core principle of ScanTo is local processing. We do not collect, store, or transmit your personal contacts or digital business card information to any external servers owned by the developer.
2. Information We Collect and How We Use It
To provide our features, the app requests certain device permissions and processes specific data locally on your device:
Camera & Gallery Access: We request access to your device's camera and photo gallery to scan physical business cards using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and to allow you to upload custom logos and backgrounds for your digital card.
Contact Information: We request permission to write to your contacts (WRITE_CONTACTS) so the app can save scanned business cards directly to your device's native phonebook.
Personal Profile Data: The details you enter to generate your personal digital business card (Name, Phone, Email, Company, Website, etc.) are saved locally on your device using Android's local storage. We do not have access to this data.
Local Processing (Google ML Kit): ScanTo uses Google ML Kit for text recognition (OCR) to read physical business cards. This processing is performed entirely on-device. Images of business cards are not sent to the cloud for processing.
3. Third-Party Services and Advertising
While the developer does not collect your personal data, the app uses third-party services that may collect information used to identify you, primarily for serving advertisements.
Google AdMob: We use Google AdMob to display ads within the app. AdMob may collect and use advertising identifiers (such as the Android Advertising ID), IP addresses, and generalized location data to serve personalized ads.
You can learn more about how Google uses data for advertising here: Google's Privacy & Terms
You can opt-out of personalized advertising in your device’s Settings > Google > Ads.
4. Data Sharing and Disclosure
Because your personal data (contacts, business card details, and scanned images) remains strictly on your device, we do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to outside parties.
The only data shared externally is the anonymous, non-identifying telemetry and advertising data collected automatically by Google AdMob as described in Section 3.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
Your personal profile data and customized card settings are stored locally on your device. You can permanently delete this data at any time by:
Clearing the app's storage in your device settings (Settings > Apps > ScanTo > Storage > Clear Data).
Uninstalling the ScanTo application.
6. Children’s Privacy
These Services do not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we will be able to take necessary actions.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Effective Date" at the top. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
