Runeshift — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-06-02

DRAFT — review before publishing. This is an engineering draft written to match what the game actually does today (see docs/design/backend.md). It is not legal advice. Before launch: have someone qualified review it, set the real effective date, host it at a stable public URL (e.g. GitHub Pages), link it from the Google Play listing's "Privacy policy" field, and surface it in-app (Settings). Update it whenever data practices change (e.g. when account linking, analytics, or ads are added).

Runeshift ("the game", "we", "us") is a mobile game published by Kraken Inc. (unofficial). This policy explains what data the game collects, why, how it's stored, and the choices you have — including how to delete your data.

The short version

  • The game creates an anonymous account automatically so your progress can be backed up and restored. We do not ask for your name, email, or other personal details to play.
  • We store your game progress (unlocks, currency, statistics) and any feedback you choose to send.
  • We do not show ads, and we do not sell or share your data with anyone for advertising or marketing.
  • You can delete your account and all associated data from within the game at any time (Settings → Account → Delete Account & Data), or by emailing us.

What we collect and why

Anonymous account identifier. On first launch the game signs you in anonymously through our backend provider (Supabase). This creates a random account ID (a UUID) tied to your installation. We use it solely to associate your saved progress with your device so it can be backed up and restored. No email, phone number, name, or contacts are collected for this.

Game progress (cloud save). To back up and sync your progress we store data such as: unlocked content (heroes, realms, relics, cosmetics, achievements), your soft currency ("platinum") balance and transaction history, run and match statistics, tutorial completion, and gameplay preferences. This is linked to your anonymous account ID.

Feedback you send. If you use the in-game feedback form, we receive the message you write plus basic technical context attached automatically to help us reproduce issues: your device model, operating system/platform, the app version, and — only when you submit feedback during a run — non-personal gameplay context (such as the current realm, hero, and run seed). Feedback is optional; we only receive it if you choose to send it.

We do not collect precise location, contacts, photos, microphone/camera input, or advertising identifiers.

How your data is stored and processed

Game data is stored using Supabase, a third-party backend platform that provides authentication and database hosting on our behalf (a data processor). Your data is protected by per-account access rules so that one account cannot read another's data. Supabase processes this data under its own terms and privacy practices; see https://supabase.com/privacy.

We do not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs in the game.

Data sharing

We do not sell your data. We do not share it with third parties except:

  • our backend provider (Supabase), strictly to operate the game's save/sync and feedback features; and
  • where required by law.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your saved progress for as long as your account exists so you can resume playing. You can delete everything at any time:

  • In-app: Settings → Account → Delete Account & Data. This permanently deletes your account and all associated data (cloud save, currency history, statistics) from our backend, and resets the local copy on your device. This cannot be undone.
  • By email: contact privacy@runeshift.net and we will delete your data. (Including your in-app account ID, shown at Settings → Account, helps us locate it.)

Feedback submissions may be retained after account deletion for bug-tracking purposes, but are unlinked from your account at deletion so they are no longer associated with you.

Children's privacy

The game is not directed to children under the age required by your local law (for example, under 13 in the United States), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

Your choices and rights

Because the game does not require a name or email to play, the data tied to you is limited to the items above. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your data. The in-app deletion above covers deletion; for other requests, email us.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the game evolves (for example, if optional account linking, analytics, or other features are added). We will update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, surface a notice in the game.
