# Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 19, 2026
Retail Intelligence ("we", "us", or "our") is an Android app for small retail businesses. The app helps users upload invoices and receipts, review parsed transaction data, maintain local inventory records, view retail insights, and ask simple questions about their own retail data.
This Privacy Policy explains what information the app handles, how it is used, and the choices available to users.
## Information We Collect
Retail Intelligence is designed to be local-first. Most business data entered or generated in the app is stored on the user's device.
The app may collect or process the following information:
- Business profile information, such as business name, business category, and related settings entered by the user.
- Uploaded invoice, bill, receipt, and document files selected by the user.
- Photos captured or selected by the user for invoice or receipt parsing.
- Parsed document data, such as supplier/customer names, product names, quantities, prices, GST/tax details, invoice numbers, dates, and totals.
- Manually entered purchase, sale, inventory, product, supplier, and customer information.
- Locally generated inventory, sales, purchase, GST, and retail insight records.
- App preferences, such as pricing display choices and quick-action usage preferences.
- Technical processing state needed to queue, retry, and complete document parsing.
We do not collect data from the device unless it is needed for app functionality or the user provides it through app workflows.
## How We Use Information
We use information handled by the app to:
- Import, parse, and review invoices, receipts, and related retail documents.
- Maintain local inventory, purchase, sale, product, supplier, and customer records.
- Generate local retail insights, reports, and summaries.
- Answer retail questions using the user's local app data.
- Improve document review reliability through saved parse and review state.
- Preserve transaction evidence so users can audit or correct parsed data.
- Maintain app preferences and workflow continuity.
## Local Storage
Retail Intelligence stores business and transaction data locally on the user's device using Android app storage and a local Room database. This includes uploaded file references, parsed document data, reviewed transaction records, inventory records, business profile information, and app preferences.
Users can delete app data using Android system settings, uninstall the app, or use deletion features provided inside the app where available. Deleting or uninstalling the app may permanently remove locally stored business records unless the user has separately backed them up.
## AI And Third-Party Processing
Retail Intelligence uses Google's Gemini API to parse uploaded invoices, receipts, and document images, and to classify some retail chat queries when network access is available.
When the user uploads or captures a document for AI parsing, the relevant file content and prompt context may be sent to Google's Gemini API for processing. The response may include structured document data such as product names, quantities, prices, tax details, supplier or customer information, and transaction totals. This AI-generated output is stored locally in the app so the user can review, edit, and confirm it.
The app may also send the user's retail question text to Google's Gemini API for query-intent classification when online classification is available. Retail answers are generated from the user's local app database.
Google's handling of data sent to its services is governed by Google's applicable terms and privacy policies.
## On-Device AI Features
Retail Intelligence may use an on-device embedding model to support product and party matching. These embedding features are processed on the device where supported. If the on-device model is unavailable, the app may use a local fallback matching mechanism. These local matching features do not require sending the local inventory catalog to a remote embedding service.
## Camera, Files, And Device Permissions
The app may request or use Android capabilities needed to:
- Access the internet for AI parsing and query classification.
- Check network connectivity before using online services.
- Keep background parsing work running reliably while uploads are being processed.
- Let users select supported document or image files.
- Let users capture invoice or receipt photos.
- Share or open generated report files through Android's file-sharing mechanisms.
The app accesses user-selected files or captured photos only for app workflows initiated by the user.
## Sharing Of Information
We do not sell user data.
We do not share user business records with advertisers.
Information may be shared only in the following cases:
- With Google Gemini API when the user uses AI parsing or online query classification features.
- With Android system components or user-selected apps when the user opens, exports, shares, prints, or views generated files such as reports or receipts.
- When required to comply with applicable law, legal process, or enforceable governmental requests.
## Advertising And Tracking
Retail Intelligence does not include advertising SDKs and does not use user data for advertising or cross-app tracking.
## Data Security
We use reasonable technical measures appropriate for a local-first mobile app, including Android app-private storage and network communication over HTTPS for supported remote AI calls.
No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. Users should avoid uploading documents containing information they do not want processed by the app or third-party AI services.
## Data Retention
Business records, uploaded document references, parsed outputs, review history, inventory data, and app preferences are retained on the user's device for as long as needed to provide app functionality or until the user deletes them.
Temporary remote files uploaded for AI parsing are intended to be cleaned up after processing. Cleanup is best-effort and may depend on network availability and third-party service behavior.
## Children's Privacy
Retail Intelligence is intended for retail business use and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
## User Choices
Users can:
- Choose whether to upload or capture invoice and receipt files.
- Review and edit parsed data before confirming it into retail records.
- Use local app data features without uploading a particular document.
- Delete app data through app features where available or through Android system settings.
- Uninstall the app to remove app-private local data from the device.
## International Users
The app is designed for Indian retail workflows, but remote processing services may process data on servers located outside the user's country. Users should only use remote AI features if they are comfortable with that processing.
## Changes To This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date above. Continued use of the app after an update means the user accepts the updated policy.
