1. Overview
TransferX is a device-to-device file transfer and local media management application. This Privacy Policy explains what information TransferX accesses or processes, why it is needed, where it is processed, and the choices available to you.
2. Information TransferX Handles
Profile Information
Your display name and avatar are stored locally on your device. They may be shown to nearby devices when you choose to send or receive files.
TransferX does not require you to create an online account.
Files and Media
With your permission, TransferX may access files, photos, videos, music, application packages, and folders available on your device.
This access is used to:
● Display your authorized media and files.
● Identify duplicate or similar photos.
● Categorize photos using on-device image labeling.
● Calculate potentially reclaimable storage.
● Compress videos.
● Transfer files you select.
● Display received and previously transferred files.
TransferX does not access precise location metadata stored inside photos.
Installed Applications
TransferX may display applications installed on your device so that you can open, uninstall, export, or transfer an application package when you explicitly choose to do so.
Generated application archives are stored locally. Android’s system package installer handles application installation and Android’s system interface handles application removal.
Device and Connection Information
To discover and connect with nearby devices, TransferX may process:
● A locally generated device identifier.
● Device and profile names.
● Profile avatars.
● Local IP addresses.
● Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, or hotspot connection information.
● Connection status.
● File metadata and transfer progress.
On Android 12L and earlier, Android may require location permission for nearby Wi-Fi discovery. TransferX uses this permission only to access Android Wi-Fi discovery functions and does not use it to determine, store, or track your physical location.
On newer Android versions, TransferX uses Android’s Nearby Devices permissions.
Camera Input
Camera access is used only when you scan a TransferX connection QR code or choose to take a profile photo. Camera images are not uploaded to a TransferX server.
Transfer History and Settings
Transfer records, connection preferences, profile settings, cached previews, media-analysis results, and generated transfer archives may be stored locally on your device.
Notifications
TransferX may display notifications for active or background file transfers. Notification permission is used only for app and transfer status notifications.
3. How Information Is Used and Shared
TransferX uses the information described above only to provide features requested by you.
Files and media-analysis inputs are not uploaded to a TransferX-operated cloud service. When you start a transfer, selected files and the profile and connection information required for the transfer are sent directly to the device you select over the active local connection.
The recipient receives and controls transferred files. Only transfer files to devices and people you trust.
TransferX does not sell personal information, display advertising, or use advertising identifiers.
4. Google Services
Google ML Kit
TransferX uses Google ML Kit for image labeling and photo categorization.
Images and label results are processed on your device and are not sent to Google servers. ML Kit may send limited technical information to Google, including device and application information, per-installation identifiers, performance metrics, API configuration, feature input and output sizes, event types, and error codes. Google uses this information for diagnostics, usage measurement, maintenance, security, and service improvement.
ML Kit diagnostic information is encrypted in transit. More information is available in the ML Kit data disclosure documentation and Google Privacy Policy.
Firebase Remote Config
TransferX uses Firebase Remote Config to obtain configuration values used to enable, disable, or adjust app functionality.
Firebase Remote Config may process a Firebase installation identifier, application information, IP address, and technical service information. TransferX does not use Firebase Analytics or advertising identifiers.
Google processes this information according to the Firebase privacy and security documentation and the Google Privacy Policy.
5. Android System Services
Android system components may process information when you use system features including:
● Photo Picker and file picker.
● Media permissions.
● Nearby-device permissions.
● Wi-Fi Direct and hotspot connections.
● Camera.
● Package installer and application removal interface.
● Android share sheet.
● Notifications.
These components are controlled by Android and the relevant device manufacturer.
6. Storage, Retention, and Deletion
Local settings, transfer history, cached previews, analysis results, and temporary archives remain on your device until they are deleted through TransferX or Android, app storage is cleared, or TransferX is uninstalled.
Received and compressed files remain in their Android storage location until you delete them. Temporary transfer files and archives may be automatically removed when they are no longer required.
You can delete local TransferX data by:
● Deleting files or records through available TransferX functions.
● Clearing TransferX cache or storage in Android Settings.
● Uninstalling TransferX.
Information processed by Google services is retained according to Google’s applicable service terms and retention policies.
7. Permissions and Your Choices
You can grant, limit, or revoke permissions through Android Settings.
If you revoke a permission, the related feature may stop working. Revoking permission does not automatically delete files that were previously received, created, compressed, or exported.
Where supported by Android, you may authorize only selected photos and videos. Features requiring library-wide scanning, such as duplicate detection and media categorization, may be incomplete when access is limited.
8. Security
TransferX limits access through Android permissions and user-selected system locations. Transfers use direct local network connections where available.
No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You should transfer files only with trusted devices and avoid transferring sensitive files over networks you do not trust.
9. Children
TransferX is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly request personal information from children or provide online account services intended for children.
10. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights concerning personal information processed by service providers used by TransferX.
Most information handled directly by TransferX remains on your device and can be reviewed or deleted through TransferX, Android Settings, or a file manager.
Privacy inquiries may be submitted to allen20160627@gmail.com. Because TransferX does not operate user accounts or upload transferred files to its own server, we may be unable to identify or remotely delete information that exists only on your device.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when TransferX features, SDKs, data practices, or legal requirements change. The current version will be made available through the app and the public privacy-policy URL.
