Privacy Policy for PomodoroBar
Last updated: July 3, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how PomodoroBar (“the App”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you use the App on your Mac. By installing and using the App, you agree to the practices described here.
PomodoroBar is a menu-bar Pomodoro timer. It is designed to do its job entirely on your device. It does not have an account system, it does not send anything to any server, and it does not include any third-party analytics or advertising.
1. Data we collect
We do not collect any personal data from you. The App has no sign-in, no account, and no server backend. We do not know who you are, and we have no way of identifying you.
For the purposes of Apple’s App Privacy details on the App Store: PomodoroBar collects no data from you. None of the categories listed by Apple (Contact Info, Identifiers, Usage Data, Health, Financial Info, etc.) are collected, linked to you, or used for tracking.
2. Data stored on your device
The App stores the following entirely on your Mac, inside the App’s own sandboxed storage (user defaults):
- Your timer settings, such as work and break lengths, sound and notification preferences, and the global keyboard shortcut you have recorded.
- The list of apps (and, for Safari, the list of domains) you have added for Focus mode.
- Your focus-time statistics, so the App can show totals for today, this week, and this month.
This information never leaves your device. It is not uploaded, synced to a cloud service, or shared with us or anyone else. It remains under your control on your Mac, and you can reset it at any time from within the App or by removing the App.
3. Information the App reads temporarily
To make Focus mode work, the App needs to know which app is currently frontmost on your Mac. This is detected using standard macOS notifications and is used only in memory to decide whether the timer should keep counting. The identity of the frontmost app is not stored or transmitted.
If you turn on Safari focus domains, the App additionally reads the address (URL) of the active tab in Safari’s front window, and only then. This happens solely so the App can check whether the current tab is on a domain you listed as counting as work. That address is compared to your list in memory, used for that single check, and is not stored, logged, or sent anywhere. The App does not read, collect, or see any other content of the page, your browsing history, your bookmarks, or any other Safari data. This feature is off by default and only does anything once you have added Safari as a focus app and entered the domains you want to count.
4. Permissions and why each is used
- Notifications: used only to alert you when a work or break session ends. No notification content is sent to us.
- Automation (Apple Events to Safari): requested only when the Safari focus-domains feature is active, so the App can ask Safari for the address of the current tab as described above. The App does not script or control Safari in any other way. If you deny this permission, the App falls back to app-level Focus gating (Safari counts as work whenever it is frontmost) and the timer keeps working.
- Global keyboard shortcut: registered with the system hot-key API so you can start and pause the timer from any app. This does not require Accessibility or Input Monitoring access, and the App does not see or record what you type.
- Launch at Login: if you enable it, the App registers itself to launch when you log in, using the standard macOS mechanism.
5. Third parties
The App does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. It does not include third-party code that collects data. No data is shared with third parties because no data is collected.
The App’s Settings screen contains a link to a Ko-fi page where you can optionally choose to support the project. That link opens in your web browser. Any information you provide to Ko-fi is handled by Ko-fi under its own privacy policy and is not shared with or accessible by the App.
6. Tracking
The App does not track you. It does not engage in any tracking as defined by Apple’s App Tracking Transparency framework, and it does not combine data from this App with data from other companies’ apps or websites for targeted advertising or measurement.
7. Children
The App is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect any data from children. Because the App collects no personal data at all, no special age-related handling is required. If you believe a child has provided information to us in some other way, please contact us so we can address it, although the App itself provides no way to submit information.
8. Security
Because the App does not collect or transmit data, there is no data of yours at risk of a network breach. The information stored on your device is kept within the App’s sandboxed storage, which macOS protects with the standard security boundaries applied to all sandboxed Mac App Store apps.
9. Your choices
You can remove all of the App’s locally stored data at any time by resetting statistics or settings from within the App, or by deleting the App from your Mac. Because nothing is stored on our side, removing the App removes all of the data.
10. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Because the App has no network connection, the App itself will not push notifications about policy changes; the current version will always be available at the App’s App Store page and alongside the App.
11. Contact
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or the App’s privacy practices, you can contact us at:

This is a plain-language summary of how the App handles information and is not intended to create any legal obligation beyond what is required for App Store compliance.
