Pensieve Note ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our note-taking application.
Summary
We do not collect, store, or share your personal data. Your notes and data stay on your device and in your personal iCloud account (if you enable sync).
Data Storage
Local Storage
All notes, folders, drawings, voice recordings, and settings are stored locally on your device using Apple's Core Data framework. We do not have access to this data.
iCloud Sync (Optional - Pro Feature)
If you enable iCloud Sync, your data is stored in your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit service. This data is:
- Encrypted by Apple
- Accessible only to you
- Managed entirely by Apple's privacy policies
- Not accessible to us
Data We Do NOT Collect
- Personal information (name, email, phone number)
- Location data (location reminders are processed on-device only)
- Usage analytics or tracking
- Advertising identifiers
- Voice recordings or transcriptions (processed on-device)
- Note contents or any user-generated content
Third-Party Services
Apple Services
The app uses the following Apple services:
- iCloud/CloudKit: For optional data sync between your devices
- StoreKit: For processing in-app purchases and subscriptions
- Speech Framework: For on-device voice transcription
These services are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
No Third-Party Analytics or Advertising
We do not use any third-party analytics, tracking, or advertising services. There are no SDKs from Facebook, Google, or other data collectors in our app.
Permissions
The app may request the following permissions:
- Microphone: For voice recording and transcription (processed on-device)
- Camera: For scanning documents and AR features
- Photo Library: For adding images to notes
- Location: For location-based note reminders (optional, processed on-device)
- Face ID/Touch ID: For app lock feature (biometric data never leaves your device)
All data from these permissions stays on your device or your personal iCloud account.
In-App Purchases and Subscriptions
Pensieve Note offers auto-renewable subscriptions:
- Pensieve Note Pro Monthly: 1 month subscription
- Pensieve Note Pro Annual: 1 year subscription
Payment will be charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. Subscription automatically renews unless it is canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period. You can manage and cancel your subscriptions by going to your App Store account settings after purchase.Subscription purchases are processed entirely by Apple. We receive only anonymized transaction confirmations and do not have access to your payment information.
Children's Privacy
Pensieve Note does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. The app is designed for general audiences.
Data Retention
Since we don't collect your data, there is nothing for us to retain. Your local data persists until you delete it or uninstall the app. iCloud data is managed through your Apple ID settings.
Your Rights
You have complete control over your data:
- Access: All your data is visible within the app
- Export: You can export notes as PDF (Pro feature)
- Delete: You can delete any note, folder, or all data at any time
- iCloud: Manage synced data through your device's iCloud settings
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy in the app and updating the "Last Updated" date.
