## Overview

Couco Scan is a document scanning app. This app is designed to scan pages, let users organize and export PDFs, and store saved documents locally on the device.

We do not run an account system or an app backend for Couco Scan.

## Information We Collect

Couco Scan does not intentionally collect personal information for transmission to our own servers.

The app may process the following data on the device:

- Camera input used to scan documents
- Document images created from scans
- PDF files generated from scanned pages
- Document titles created or edited by the user
- App settings such as theme preference

## How Information Is Used

The app uses data only to provide its core functionality, including:

- scanning documents
- applying document cleanup filters
- cropping pages
- saving documents locally on the device
- reopening saved documents later
- exporting PDFs through the device share sheet

## Storage

Scanned pages, generated PDFs, and saved-document metadata are stored locally on the device until the user deletes them from the app.

These files are stored in the app's local storage area on the device. The app does not provide cloud sync or automatic upload to our own servers.

## Sharing

When the user chooses to export a PDF, the app uses the device sharing system to send the file to another app or destination selected by the user.

Once a file is shared to another app or service, that destination's privacy practices apply.

## Permissions

Depending on platform and device behavior, the app may request access to:

- Camera, to scan documents
- Local file access or sharing-related permissions, to save and export PDFs

These permissions are used only to support app functionality.

## Third-Party Components

PaperFlow relies on platform and open source components to provide features such as document scanning, PDF generation, and file sharing.

On Android and iOS, document scanning may rely on native platform services or libraries such as Google ML Kit or Apple VisionKit through the app's scanning integration.

## Children

Couco Scan is not directed to children under 13.

## Data Retention

Because data is stored locally on the device, retention is primarily controlled by the user. Users can delete saved documents from inside the app, and deleting the app may also remove locally stored files.

## Security

We take a local-first approach, but no device or software environment can guarantee absolute security. Users should avoid storing sensitive documents on shared or unsecured devices.

## Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. The latest version should be the version published with the app or on the public policy page used for distribution.
