# Niyam — Privacy Policy
_Last updated: 10th July 2026
Niyam ("the app", "we") is a personal trading-discipline tracker. This policy
explains, in plain language, what the app does and does not do with your data.
Fill in the **[bracketed]** placeholders and publish this at a public URL (see
`docs/PLAY_RELEASE.md`), then link it in the Play listing.
## The short version
- **Your trading journal stays on your device.** Your trades, P&L, notes and
discipline ratings are stored **only** on your phone. We never receive them,
never upload them, and cannot see them.
- **No broker or bank access.** Niyam has no connection to any broker, exchange,
or financial account. Everything is entered by hand.
- **No ads. We don't sell your data.**
## What is stored on your device
Entered by you and kept locally (in the app's private storage):
- daily entries — date, number of trades, net P&L, discipline rating, and your
free-text notes;
- your settings — name (optional), daily trade limit, reminder time, currency
format;
- the install date (used to run the 30-day free trial).
This data is removed when you uninstall the app or clear its data.
## What leaves your device
Only anonymous, non-financial diagnostics — and only if these services are
enabled in the shipped build:
- **Usage analytics (Google Firebase Analytics).** We log coarse, anonymous
events to understand whether the app is useful — for example: app opened,
onboarding completed, a day was logged, a streak milestone was reached, the
insights screen was viewed, the paywall was viewed, Pro was unlocked.
**These events never include your P&L amounts, trade counts, or note text** —
only neutral flags (e.g. whether a day was within your trade limit, and the
discipline rating category). Firebase may also collect standard app/device
information and identifiers (such as an app-instance ID).
- **Crash diagnostics (Google Firebase Crashlytics).** If the app crashes, a
diagnostic report (device model, OS version, stack trace) is sent so we can
fix it. It does not include your journal content.
- **Purchases (Google Play Billing via RevenueCat).** If you buy the one-time
Pro unlock, the purchase is processed by Google Play, and RevenueCat records
your entitlement (purchased / not) to keep Pro unlocked across reinstalls. We
do not receive or store your payment details.
Data sent to these services is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS).
## Why we collect it
Solely to keep the app stable and to learn whether people find the daily ritual
useful so we can improve it. Not for advertising, profiling, or resale.
## Your choices and rights
- **Stop on-device storage:** delete entries in the app, or uninstall to remove
everything.
- **Export your data:** Pro users can export the journal as a CSV at any time.
- **Analytics/crash data:** to request access or deletion of any diagnostic data
associated with your device, contact us at **[support email]**.
## Children
Niyam is not directed at children and is intended for adults who trade.
