This privacy policy applies to the NihonGO app (hereby referred to as the "Application") for mobile devices, created by HanksFS (hereby referred to as the "Service Provider") as a free service. This service is provided "AS IS".
Information Collection and Use
The Application may collect limited technical information when you download and use it. This information may include:
- Your device's Internet Protocol address (e.g., IP address) when connecting to online services
- Your mobile device operating system
- Basic technical information necessary for application functionality and troubleshooting
The Application does not collect precise location information from your mobile device.
The Application does not require users to create an account or submit personally identifiable information in order to use its core features.
Some features of the Application use Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to assist with language translation and text processing. When AI-assisted features are used, user-entered text may be temporarily transmitted to external AI service providers solely for processing and generating results. No unnecessary personal information is intentionally collected during this process.
The Application may also download speech recognition model files from external repositories to enable offline speech recognition functionality. These files are required for certain voice-related features and are downloaded only when necessary.
The Service Provider may use contact information voluntarily provided by users (such as email inquiries) only for responding to support requests, important notices, or service-related communication.
Third-Party Access
The Application may rely on third-party services that support certain features or distribution of the app. These services may process limited technical data necessary for their operation.
Third-party services used by the Application may include:
- Google Play Services
- GitHub (for downloadable speech recognition model files)
- Mistral AI (for AI-assisted language processing, when applicable)
These third-party services have their own privacy policies governing how they handle data.
The Service Provider may disclose information only:
- when required by law
- when necessary to protect legal rights or user safety
- when working with trusted service providers who operate under confidentiality obligations
Data Retention Policy
The Application primarily stores user-generated content locally on the device, such as saved translations or phrasebook entries.
If users voluntarily contact the Service Provider, submitted communication may be retained only as long as necessary to respond appropriately.
Users may remove locally stored data by uninstalling the Application or clearing application storage through device settings.
Opt-Out Rights
You can stop all information collection by uninstalling the Application using the standard uninstall process available on your mobile device or application marketplace.
Children's Privacy
The Application does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13.
If it is discovered that a child under 13 has provided personal information through direct communication, such information will be deleted promptly.
