Privacy Policy for My Daily Task
Last updated: [DATE]
This Privacy Policy describes how My Daily Task ("the app", "we", "us") handles information when you use our mobile application. My Daily Task is developed and maintained by an independent developer based in Sweden.
If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at mydaylytask@gmail.com or through the Contact form inside the app.
Summary
My Daily Task is designed to work entirely on your device. We do not operate a server that stores your personal data, we do not use advertising, and we do not sell or share your data with third parties. The sections below explain exactly what data the app touches and why.
1. Data We Collect and How We Use It
1.1 Task and habit data
Everything you create in the app — task names, emojis, colors, completion history, streaks, shields, groups, and challenges — is stored locally on your device only. This data is never transmitted to us or to any server. We have no access to it, no ability to view it, and no copy of it exists outside your device.
If you use the app's backup feature, it creates a file on your device that you choose to save or share yourself (for example, to move to a new phone). We do not receive a copy of this file unless you explicitly send it to us (for example, when reporting a bug).
1.2 Health and fitness data (Health Connect)
My Daily Task can optionally read the following data types from Android Health Connect, but only if you choose to create a task of that type:
- Steps
- Active calories burned
- Distance
This data is:
- Read-only — we never write to, modify, or delete your health data in Health Connect (with the exception of the app's own step/calorie/distance write permissions, which exist only so the app can register itself as a valid Health Connect data source; the app does not actually write synthetic health data on your behalf)
- Used only locally, to mark a matching task as complete for the day and display your progress
- Never transmitted to us, to any server, or to any third party
- Never sold or shared with advertisers, data brokers, or any other party, under any circumstances
Access to each health data type is requested individually, only at the moment you choose to create that specific type of task. You can revoke this access at any time through Android's Health Connect settings or your device's app permissions.
If no real Health Connect data is available for active calories or distance on a given day, the app estimates a value from your step count so the task doesn't sit static. This estimate is calculated on your device and is never written back to Health Connect or sent anywhere.
A periodic background check (roughly every 15 minutes) reads your current health data to keep tasks updated even when the app isn't open. This background process only reads data for tasks you've created and only updates your own local task records — it does not transmit anything externally.
1.3 Notifications
The app schedules local reminder notifications on your device based on the times you set. These notifications are generated and delivered entirely on-device through Android's notification system. No notification content or scheduling data is sent to us or any external service.
1.4 Contact and feedback
If you use the in-app Contact form, it opens your device's email app with a pre-filled message addressed to mydaylytask@gmail.com. This message may include:
- The feedback category you selected and the message you wrote
- Your app version and build number
- Your device model and operating system version
- A crash stack trace, if you're reporting a bug and one is available
This information is only sent if you actively choose to send the email — nothing is sent automatically. We use this information solely to understand and respond to your feedback or fix reported issues. We do not use it for any other purpose.
1.5 In-app purchases
My Daily Task offers an optional one-time purchase to unlock additional features. This purchase is processed entirely through Google Play Billing. We do not receive or store your payment information — Google handles the transaction according to their own privacy policy, available at policies.google.com/privacy.
1.6 App preferences
Settings such as your theme (light/dark), language preference, and notification time preferences are stored locally on your device using standard Android app storage. This information never leaves your device.
2. Data We Do Not Collect
To be explicit about what this app does not do:
- We do not use advertising or ad networks of any kind
- We do not use analytics or tracking SDKs
- We do not require an account, login, or sign-up
- We do not collect your name, email address, or contact list unless you voluntarily provide it by emailing us
- We do not access your location, camera, microphone, or contacts
- We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing or any other purpose
3. Data Storage and Security
All app data is stored locally on your device using standard Android application storage mechanisms. Because we do not operate a server or database containing your personal data, there is no central point where your task or health data could be exposed in a data breach on our end.
If you uninstall the app, all locally stored data — including task history, streaks, and preferences — is permanently deleted from your device, unless you have saved a backup file elsewhere.
4. Your Choices and Rights
- Health Connect permissions can be reviewed and revoked at any time in Android's Health Connect app or your device's app permission settings.
- Notification permissions can be disabled at any time in your device settings.
- Backup and deletion: since your data lives only on your device, you have full control over it — export a backup at any time, or delete all data by uninstalling the app.
- EU/UK users (GDPR): because we do not collect or process personal data on any server we control, most data-processing rights (access, rectification, erasure, portability) are naturally satisfied by the fact that your data already lives only on your own device, under your own control. For any questions about this, contact us at the email above.
- California users (CCPA/CPRA): we do not sell or share personal information as defined under California law.
5. Children's Privacy
My Daily Task is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information (for example, through the Contact form), please contact us and we will delete it.
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example if we add a new feature that changes how data is handled. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide notice within the app.
7. Contact Us

This policy describes My Daily Task's actual data practices as implemented in the app. It is provided as a starting point and has not been reviewed by a lawyer — if you have specific legal or regulatory obligations (for example, operating in a jurisdiction with additional requirements), we recommend having it reviewed before publishing.
