Welcome to the Vedic Muhurtha Engine (the "Application", package: com.vedic.muhurtha.engine), developed as a bilingual (Kannada/English) offline Vedic Muhurtha engine. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting any information processed through our Application.
1. Information We Collect and How We Use It
A. Local User Input (Birth & Location Details)
To calculate personalized Muhurtha recommendations, the Application requires you to input:
- Date of Birth (DOB) and Time of Birth (TOB).
- A selected location (chosen from a pre-defined local list of cities/towns in Karnataka).
Crucial Privacy Commitment: All birth calculations, astronomical computations (Tithi, Nakshatra, Yoga, Karana, Lagna), and transit delineations are performed locally and offline on your device.
- We do not collect, store, or transmit your birth details or chosen locations to any external servers.
- This data is temporary, kept in memory only for the active session, and disappears when the Application is closed.
B. Device Location
The Application does not request permission to access your device's live GPS/location coordinates. Location coordinates are resolved entirely offline from a static list of Karnataka cities loaded within the Application package.
2. Third-Party Services & Advertising (Google AdMob)
To support this free service, the Application integrates third-party software development kits (SDKs) from Google Mobile Ads (AdMob). AdMob may collect and use certain diagnostic and identification data to serve advertisements, which includes:
- IP Addresses: Used to estimate general geographic location (e.g., country or city) for localized ads.
- Device Identifiers: Such as the Advertising ID (IDFA on iOS or AAID on Android) to provide personalized ads and combat fraud.
- Diagnostic & Crash Logs: Technical details used to troubleshoot performance and ad serving bugs.
Google's use of this data is governed by the Google Privacy & Terms Policy.
3. Network and Connectivity Permissions
The Application requests internet access solely for:
- Fetching and caching advertisements from AdMob.
- Listening to network state changes (via the connectivity SDK) to automatically pre-cache advertisements as soon as the device regains internet connection.
The core Muhurtha calculation features remain fully functional when the device is completely offline.
4. Data Retention and Security
Because we do not run backend servers or store any user-identifying data, we do not retain any of your personal details. Your inputs are local and volatile.
We take all reasonable measures within the Application code to secure the local environment and protect your data from unauthorized local access.
5. Children's Privacy
Our Application does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. While the app is designed to calculate auspicious timings for Naming Ceremonies and child birth charts, all data entry remains local, temporary, and offline.
