1. Introduction
MaRoute ("the App") is developed and operated by the Ministère de l'Équipement et de l'Eau (MEE), Morocco. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal data when you use MaRoute on your mobile device.
By installing and using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Data We Collect
2.1 Location Data
- Precise GPS location (foreground & background): We collect your real-time location while the App is open and, when you grant permission, while it is running in the background.
- Purpose: To display your position on the map, provide turn-by-turn navigation, show nearby traffic incidents, and improve route accuracy.
- We do not sell or share your location data with any third party for advertising or commercial purposes.
2.2 Images & Photos
- Camera / Photo Library: If you report a road incident, the App may ask you to take or upload a photo.
- Purpose: To document and submit incident reports to the MEE operations team.
- Photos are transmitted securely to our servers and are not used for any other purpose.
2.3 Device & Usage Data
- App preferences: We store local settings (language, first-launch status) on your device using encrypted shared storage. This data never leaves your device.
- Network requests: The App communicates with MEE servers over HTTPS to fetch map layers, traffic data, city directories, and incident information.
2.4 Data We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or any account credentials.
- We do not use advertising SDKs or tracking libraries.
- We do not share any data with social networks.

4. Background Location
MaRoute requests the "Always Allow" (background) location permission so that navigation and incident alerts continue to work when the App is minimized. This permission is:
- Requested only after you have been shown a clear disclosure explaining its purpose.
- Never used to track your movements for marketing, profiling, or any purpose other than in-app navigation.
You can revoke this permission at any time in your device Settings → Apps → MaRoute → Permissions → Location.

5. Data Sharing & Third Parties
Google Maps SDK
The App embeds Google Maps for map rendering. Google may collect anonymized telemetry data. See [Google's Privacy Policy](https://policies.google.com/privacy).
MEE Servers
Data transmitted to MEE servers (incident reports, route requests) is processed under Morocco's Law No. 09-08 on the protection of personal data and is subject to the MEE's internal data governance policy.
We do not share your personal data with any other third party.

- All communications between the App and our servers use HTTPS with certificate pinning.
- Incident photos are transmitted over encrypted connections.
- Local app data is stored using Android's and iOS's sandboxed storage mechanisms.

7. Children's Privacy
MaRoute is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
