# Privacy Policy

**MarkdownToKindle** · Effective 18 July 2026

> **In short:** MarkdownToKindle does not collect, store, transmit, or sell any of
> your personal information. Everything happens on your Mac. We have no servers and
> run no analytics.

## Who we are

MarkdownToKindle ("the app") is a native macOS application that converts Markdown
into a Kindle-ready EPUB and, at your request, emails it to your Kindle library.
This policy explains how the app handles data.

## Data we collect

**None.** The developer of MarkdownToKindle does not collect, receive, or have
access to any of your data. There is no account to create, no tracking, no
analytics, and no crash reporting.

## How your data is handled on your device

- **Document content.** The Markdown you type, paste, or open, and the EPUB the app
generates from it, are processed entirely on your Mac. They are never sent to the
 developer.
- **Email credentials.** The sending email address and password (or app-specific
password) you configure are stored securely in the macOS Keychain on your device.
They are used only to connect to the email server you specify and are never
 transmitted to the developer.
- **Sending to Kindle.** When you choose to send, the app connects directly to your
email provider's SMTP server and emails the EPUB from your account to the
`@kindle.com` address you provide. This transmission goes between you, your email
provider, and Amazon. The developer is not involved and never sees the message or
 its contents.
- **Remote images.** If your Markdown references images by URL, the app downloads
those images from the web addresses you included so it can embed them in the EPUB.
Those requests go directly to the hosts you referenced; no image data is sent to
 the developer.

## Third parties

The app does not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. Any
interaction with Amazon's "Send to Kindle" service and with your own email provider
is governed by their respective privacy policies:

- Amazon Privacy Notice
- The privacy policy of the email provider you configure

## Data retention and deletion

Because the developer collects no data, there is nothing for us to retain or delete.
Documents, generated EPUBs, and stored credentials live only on your device, and you
can remove them at any time by deleting your files or clearing the app's saved
settings and Keychain entries.

## Children's privacy

The app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any information
from anyone, including children under 13.

## Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same address with
a new effective date.
