Welcome to LingoWave, an English language learning application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use our app. By creating an account and using LingoWave, you agree to this policy.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following information:
- Full name and email address during signup
- Password (stored in encrypted form — never as plain text)
- Profile details such as display name and profile picture
- Google account name and email if you sign in with Google
- Quiz responses, lesson completions, and learning progress
- Streak count, XP points, and leaderboard rankings
- Device information (device model, operating system version)
- App usage data (features used, session duration, screen views)
- Crash logs and performance data for bug fixing
- Advertising ID for serving personalized ads via Google AdMob
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Create and manage your account
- Authenticate your identity via Email/Password or Google Sign-In
- Track and display your streaks, XP, and achievements
- Show your display name and score on leaderboards
- Personalize quiz content and learning paths based on your progress
- Send push notifications for streak reminders and app updates
- Show advertisements through Google AdMob
- Process in-app purchases
- Analyze usage to improve app features and content
- Detect and fix crashes and technical issues
4. Login & Authentication
LingoWave requires an account to use. You can sign up using:
- Email and Password — your password is stored securely using encryption
- Google Sign-In — we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google as permitted by your Google account settings
5. Leaderboard & Streaks
Your display name and score rank are visible to other users on public leaderboards. Your email address, password, and private account details are never shown publicly. You can update your display name anytime in Settings.
6. Advertisements (Google AdMob)
LingoWave uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may collect and use your Advertising ID and usage data to show personalized ads. You can opt out of personalized ads in your device settings under Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization. For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
7. In-App Purchases
LingoWave offers in-app purchases processed through the Google Play Store. We do not directly collect or store your payment information. All payment data is handled by Google Play. Please refer to Google Play's Terms of Service for details.
8. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored on our own secure servers. We use HTTPS/TLS encryption for all data transmitted between the app and our servers. Access to your data is restricted to authorized personnel only. While we take all reasonable measures to protect your data, no system is 100% secure.
9. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We may share data with:
- Google AdMob — for serving advertisements
- Google — if you use Google Sign-In
- Google Play — for processing in-app purchases
- Crash reporting and analytics tools used internally to improve the app
- Legal authorities — if required by law or to protect user safety
10. Account Deletion & Data Retention
You can delete your account anytime via Settings → Account → Delete Account. Upon deletion, your personal data will be permanently removed from our servers within 30 days. We retain data only as long as necessary to provide our services or as required by law.
11. Children's Privacy
LingoWave is open to users of all ages. However, if a user is under the age of 13, we recommend parental supervision. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 without parental consent. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account without consent, please contact us and we will delete the account promptly.

You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your account and data
- Opt out of personalized ads via device settings
- Turn off push notifications via device settings

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top and notify you via in-app notification for significant changes. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
