This privacy policy applies to the Folio app (hereby referred to as "Application") for mobile devices that was created by Shivam (hereby referred to as "Service Provider") as an Ad Supported service. This service is intended for use "AS IS".
1. Information Collection and Use
The Application collects information when you download and use it. This includes:
Device Information: Your device's IP address, operating system, and unique device identifiers.
Usage Data: Pages visited, time spent in the Application, and specific interactions (e.g., books opened, chapters read).
Analytics: We use Firebase Analytics to understand user preferences, such as popular book categories and preferred AI voices (narrators). This data is anonymized and used solely to improve the Application.
2. Permissions & Access
To providing its core features, the Application requires the following permissions:
Files and Media / Storage: Required to import and read your local EPUB files.
Internet Access: Required to fetch book metadata from Project Gutenberg, download AI narrator models, and provide ad-supported content.
Notifications & Foreground Service: Required for persistent audiobook playback and media controls in the notification drawer.
3. Artificial Intelligence & Offline Processing
The Application utilizes advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies (Sherpa-Onnx and eSpeak-NG) for text-to-speech synthesis (audiobooks).
Local Processing: All AI voice synthesis and book parsing are performed locally on your device.**
Privacy: Your eBook content and synthesized audio data are NEVER transmitted to the Service Provider's servers or any third-party AI cloud.
Model Downloads: AI narrator models are downloaded from secure public repositories (e.g., GitHub) upon your request.
4. User Content & Responsibility
The Application allows you to import and convert eBooks (EPUBs) from your local storage.
Ownership: The Service Provider does **not own**, endorse, or provide the eBooks imported by the user (except for public domain books fetched from Project Gutenberg).
Responsibility: You are solely responsible for the eBooks you download from third-party or unknown sources and import into the Application.
Disclaimer: The Service Provider takes no responsibility for the legality, copyright compliance, or nature of the content you choose to import or convert into audio. It is your responsibility to ensure you have the legal right to use such content.
5. Third-Party Services
The Application utilizes third-party services that have their own Privacy Policies. These include:
Google Play Services: Required for core app functionality.
AdMob: For displaying advertisements.
Google Analytics for Firebase: For tracking anonymized usage trends.
Firebase Crashlytics: For monitoring app stability and fixing bugs.
Project Gutenberg: As a source for free public domain eBooks.
5. Third-Party Access
Only aggregated, anonymized data is periodically transmitted to external services to aid the Service Provider in improving the Application.
6. Data Retention Policy
The Service Provider will retain User Provided data for as long as you use the Application. If you wish to have your data deleted, please contact the Service Provider at shivamsehrawatdev38@gmail.com
7. Children
The Application is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children. If we discover a child under 13 has provided personal information, we will delete it immediately.
8. Security
We provide physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect the confidentiality of your information.
9. Changes
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating this page. Continued use of the Application is deemed approval of all changes.
