Family Ledger ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Family Ledger mobile application (the "App").

1. Information We Collect

  • Account Information: We collect your email address, display name, and login credentials securely managed by Firebase Authentication.
  • Profile Information: We collect names, color settings, and avatar choices for the family member profiles you create within your shared Family Pool.
  • Virtual Transaction Data: We collect details of the transactions you log in the App (amounts, categories, descriptions, dates, and split allocations). Note: All transactions logged in this App are purely virtual and for ledger-keeping purposes. We do not link to real bank accounts, credit cards, or handle actual money.
  • Diagnostics and Crash Logs: We collect crash reporting and diagnostic data using Firebase Crashlytics to monitor stability and improve performance.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Core Services: To manage your account, synchronize your virtual ledger, and stream real-time balance sheets across members who share your unique Family ID.
  • Maintenance & Improvement: To identify, debug, and fix crash events.

3. Data Storage and Retention

  • Your data is stored and hosted securely using Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore & Authentication) infrastructure. It is retained until you choose to delete your account.

4. Sharing Your Information

  • With Shared Family Members: Any user who joins using your specific Family ID will have access to all transaction entries, balances, and profiles inside that shared ledger pool.
  • Service Providers: We share data with Google Firebase Services solely to run and host the App's infrastructure. We do not sell or trade your data to third parties.

5. Security of Your Information

  • We use industry-standard security measures (Firebase Auth protocols and Firestore security rules) to protect your ledger data. Only authenticated users belonging to your specific Family ID are authorized to read or write to your ledger collections.

6. User Rights and Controls

  • You can edit your display name, update member profile details, edit/delete logged transactions, or request account deletion.
