Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 14, 2026

Patryk Kowalewski (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the EZ Meals Planner mobile application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you use the App.

By using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

Our Terms of Service are available at: https://ezmeals.app/terms

1. Information We Collect

A. Information you provide

When you use the App, you may provide:

  • Account information — if you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive identifiers and, when available, your email address and display name from your auth provider.
  • Meal planning preferences — grocery store, weekly budget, household size, food vibes, dietary needs, and kitchen equipment.
  • App content you create — weekly meal plans, saved meals, plan history, and shopping list check-off state (when signed in and synced).
  • Support communications — if you email us, we receive whatever you send (email address, message content).

You can use some features without signing in; preferences and plans may be stored locally on your device only until you create an account.

B. Information collected automatically

When you use the App, we and our service providers may collect:

  • User ID — a unique identifier from Firebase Authentication linked to your account.
  • Purchase and subscription status — to unlock EZ Meals Pro features (processed by Apple; we receive subscription status through Apple and our paywall provider).
  • Product interaction / analytics — such as onboarding completion, plan generation, paywall views, subscription success, and restore purchases (via Firebase Analytics). This is used to understand how the App is used and improve it.
  • Device and app information — device type, operating system version, app version, and general usage data typical of mobile apps.
  • Crash and performance data — if the App crashes, Firebase Crashlytics may collect crash logs and diagnostic information to help us fix issues.
  • Local storage — the App uses on-device storage (including UserDefaults) to remember settings, cached recipes, and session state.

C. Information we do not collect for advertising

We do not use the App to track you across other companies’ apps or websites for advertising. We do not sell your personal information.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use information to:

  • Provide and operate the App (meal plans, shopping lists, discover, saved meals)
  • Create and sync your account and cloud backup (when signed in)
  • Process subscriptions and restore purchases (EZ Meals Pro)
  • Deliver optional local notifications (plan, shopping, dinner reminders) if you enable them
  • Improve the App through analytics and crash reporting
  • Respond to support requests
  • Protect against fraud, abuse, and security issues
  • Comply with legal obligations

3. How We Share Information

We share information only as described below:

Service providers

We use trusted third parties to run the App:

ProviderPurpose
AppleSign in with Apple, App Store purchases, subscriptions
GoogleSign in with Google; Firebase (Auth, Firestore, Analytics, Crashlytics) for accounts, cloud sync, analytics, and crash reports
SuperwallPaywall presentation and subscription-related events

These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy policies and agreements.

Legal requirements

We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government request, or to protect our rights, users, or the public.

Business transfers

If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may transfer as part of that transaction.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Cloud Sync and Public Catalog Data

Your personal data (preferences, plans, saved meals) is stored in Firebase Firestore under your user ID when you are signed in. Access is restricted so only your authenticated account can read or write your data.

Recipe catalog and pricing data are stored in Firestore as public read-only content (not linked to your identity). The App downloads updated recipes and price defaults from our servers; this does not include your personal information.

5. Notifications

If you enable notifications in the App, we schedule local reminders on your device (e.g., weekly planning, shopping, dinner). Notification permission is requested through iOS; you can disable notifications anytime in iOS Settings or in the App’s notification settings.

We do not use notifications to send marketing from third-party ad networks.

6. Data Retention

  • Account data — kept while your account is active.
  • Local device data — kept on your device until you delete the App or clear its data.
  • Analytics and crash data — retained according to Firebase/Google retention settings (typically for a limited period for troubleshooting and analytics).

When you delete your account in the App (Profile), we delete your Firebase Authentication account and associated cloud data, subject to brief backup retention by our providers where required.

7. Your Choices and Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:

  • Access personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate information (update preferences in the App)
  • Delete your account and associated data (Profile → delete account)
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent (e.g., notifications via iOS Settings)
  • Opt out of certain analytics (limited on iOS; you may also limit ad tracking in iOS Privacy settings — we do not use the App for cross-app advertising tracking)

To exercise rights or ask questions, contact us (Section 12).

California residents (CCPA/CPRA): We do not sell personal information. You may request access to or deletion of personal information we collect. Contact us using the details below.

EEA/UK (GDPR): Legal bases include contract (providing the App), legitimate interests (security, analytics, improvement), and consent (notifications where applicable). You may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

8. Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information (including Firebase security rules and authentication). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. International Transfers

We and our providers (including Google/Firebase) may process information in the United States and other countries. By using the App, you understand your information may be transferred to jurisdictions with different data protection laws.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version at https://ezmeals.app/privacy and change the “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
