BudgetWise Privacy Policy

Short version: BudgetWise stores all your financial data locally on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or share any personal information with anyone.

1. About This Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how BudgetWise ("the App"), developed by Ashish Ranjan (com.ashishranjan.expensetracker), handles your information. We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with all applicable privacy laws, including Google Play's Data Safety requirements.

2. Data We Do NOT Collect

BudgetWise does not collect, store remotely, or share any of the following:

Personal identifiers (name, email, phone number, address)
Financial account numbers or banking credentials
Device identifiers or Advertising IDs
Location data
Usage analytics or crash reports sent to external servers
Any data shared with third parties, advertisers, or data brokers

3. Data Stored Locally on Your Device

All data you enter in BudgetWise — including transactions, budgets, savings goals, bill reminders, and categories — is stored exclusively in a local database (SQLite via Room) on your device. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us or any third party.

If you uninstall the App, all locally stored data is permanently deleted from your device.

4. Permissions Explained

CAMERA
Used only when you choose to photograph a receipt to attach to a transaction. The App captures the image on demand and stores it locally. No images are uploaded anywhere.

READ_MEDIA_IMAGES (Android 13+) / READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (Android ≤ 12)
Used only when you select an existing receipt photo from your gallery to attach to a transaction. The App reads the selected image solely to display it within the transaction detail screen and store it locally. No images are scanned in the background or shared externally.

WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (Android ≤ 9 only)
Used only to save exported PDF or Excel reports to your device's Downloads folder. No data is sent to any server.

USE_BIOMETRIC
Used to authenticate you via fingerprint or face recognition when unlocking the App. Biometric data is processed entirely by Android's secure hardware enclave and is never accessible to the App or stored by us.

POST_NOTIFICATIONS
Used to send local on-device notifications for budget alerts, bill reminders, and monthly summaries. All notifications are generated locally — no notification service or external server is involved.

RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED
Used to reschedule local reminder notifications after the device restarts, ensuring your bill and budget alerts continue to work.

VIBRATE
Used for haptic feedback within the App UI.

5. No Internet Access

BudgetWise does not include the INTERNET permission and makes no network requests whatsoever. Your financial data cannot be transmitted over the internet by this App.

6. No Third-Party SDKs or Advertising

The App does not integrate any advertising SDKs, analytics platforms (e.g. Firebase, Mixpanel), or third-party tracking libraries. No Advertising ID (GAID) is accessed or used.

7. Children's Privacy

BudgetWise is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. The App contains no age-restricted content.

8. Data Safety (Google Play)

In accordance with Google Play's Data Safety requirements:

Data collected: None
Data shared with third parties: None
Data encrypted in transit: N/A (no data transmitted)
Data deletion: All data deleted upon app uninstall
Advertising ID used: No

9. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify users via the Play Store release notes. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
