1. Overview
DocView Pro ("the App") is a mobile document scanner and PDF utility toolkit. This Privacy Policy outlines what information the App handles, how it is used, and your privacy rights.
Our core principle is complete local data processing. Scanning, editing, merging, splitting, compressing, watermarking, signing, and Optical Character Recognition (OCR) take place locally on your physical device. Files, images, and document contents are never uploaded to any DocView Pro server or backend.
Because we offer optional Premium subscriptions (Section 5) managed through official app stores, this policy also details how billing data is handled and how you can manage or restore your purchases.
By using the App, you agree to the terms described in this Privacy Policy.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
We prioritize user privacy and strictly avoid unnecessary data handling. We do not collect, store, transmit, or track:
Personal Identification: Names, email addresses, phone numbers, or account credentials (no account creation is required).
Browsing & Communication Data: Contact lists, messages, or browsing history.
Tracking Identifiers: Analytics data, advertising IDs (IDFA/GAID), or telemetry tracking.
Document Content: The contents of your scans, files, text recognition outputs, or processed PDFs.
The App operates without a server-side backend; we do not maintain databases containing your documents or usage metadata.
3. On-Device Processing & Data Storage
All document interactions remain isolated within your device’s local environment:
Local Storage: Documents, scans, draft files, and app preferences are stored strictly in the App's private local storage. Deleting a file within the App or uninstalling the App permanently removes those files from the device.
On-Device OCR: Text recognition relies on Google ML Kit's on-device processing engine. Source image pixels and extracted text are processed locally and are never transmitted to Google or DocView Pro.
Cloud Sync Services: Any references to multi-device sync refer to operating-system-level integrations (e.g., Apple iCloud or Google Drive) chosen directly by you. DocView Pro does not host, view, or manage cloud storage servers for your files.
4. Device Permissions
The App requests standard operating system permissions solely to execute features you explicitly initiate:
Camera: Required to capture physical documents for scanning and signature creation.
Storage / Photos / Media: Required to import, open, edit, and save PDFs or images on your device.
Internet Access: Used exclusively for essential system operations, such as resolving external web links or communicating with app store APIs for subscription verification. The internet permission is never used to send your documents off-device.
You can grant, deny, or revoke permissions at any time via your device's system settings. Denying access may limit dependent features (e.g., revoking camera access disables document scanning).
5. In-App Purchases & Subscriptions
DocView Pro offers an optional Premium subscription (the "Pro Plan") unlocking ad-free usage, unlimited scans, on-device OCR, and enhanced utility features.
Processing & Data Handling
Store Billing: All payment flows, card details, and billing information are processed entirely by Google Play (Android) or the Apple App Store (iOS). We never view or store your credit card or financial credentials.
Transaction Receipts: App stores provide us with minimal transaction tokens (e.g., purchase status and product ID) solely to activate and maintain your Pro access.
Pricing & Renewal Terms
Monthly Subscription: $4.99 per month.
Yearly Subscription: $29.99 per year (approx. 50% savings compared to monthly).
Note: Displayed prices are subject to local currency adjustments and store updates. You will always see the finalized price before confirming a purchase.
Subscriptions auto-renew automatically unless cancelled before the end of the current billing cycle.
Managing & Cancelling Subscriptions
You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time directly through your store account:
Android (Google Play): Open Google Play Store → Profile Icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Select DocView Pro → Cancel subscription.
iOS (Apple): Open iOS Settings → Tap your Name/Apple ID → Subscriptions → Select DocView Pro → Cancel Subscription.
Cancelling stops future renewals, but you will retain Pro features through the end of your active billing period.
Refunds & Restoring Purchases
Refunds: All refund requests are governed by the respective store policies. Submit request flows directly via Google Play Help or Apple's Report a Problem.
Restoring Access: If you switch devices or reinstall the App, restore your subscription via the "Restore Purchases" button in the App's Settings or subscription page. Access will link automatically to your active Google or Apple account.
6. Security Measures & Encryption
Because your files are stored exclusively on your device, data security relies on your operating system's protections:
Device Protection: We recommend using strong device passcodes, PINs, or biometrics to secure local files.
PDF Encryption: When using the PDF Password Protection feature inside the App, documents are locked using local encryption. Note: PDF passwords are not saved on external servers; if a password is lost, it cannot be recovered by DocView Pro.
7. Third-Party Links & External Services
The App may present links to external websites (e.g., our homepage or store listing pages). We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of third-party sites. DocView Pro does not incorporate third-party advertising SDKs or third-party behavioral analytics tools.
8. Children’s Privacy
DocView Pro is not targeted at children under 13 years of age, and we do not knowingly solicit or collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate steps to assist.
9. Data Retention & User Rights
You maintain full control over your data:
File Ownership: All created, imported, and scanned documents remain solely on your device.
Deletion: Files can be deleted individually within the App, or en masse by clearing app storage or uninstalling the App.
Account Controls: Because no user account is required, there are no remote profile records, user histories, or telemetry logs to update or request for deletion.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy periodically to reflect operational, functional, or legal updates. Revisions will be indicated by the "Effective Date" at the top of this document. Material updates will be communicated via store listings or in-app notices prior to taking effect.
