Welcome to CookiMate. We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and disclose your information when you use our mobile application.
2. Information We Collect
Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and profile picture via Firebase Authentication.
User Content: We store the recipes you cook, your favorites, your "Fans" (followers) list, and your achievement progress (Levels and XP).
Media: Profile pictures and recipe images are uploaded and stored using Cloudinary.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected data to:
Provide and maintain the CookiMate service.
Manage your account and gamification features (Badges and XP).
Allow social interactions between users (Following/Fans).
4. Third-Party Services
To provide our service, we share or store data with the following third-party providers:
Google Firebase: Used for secure user authentication and identity management.
MongoDB Atlas: Our primary database where your profile data, recipe interactions, and cooking statistics are stored.
Cloudinary: Used for hosting and delivering images, such as your profile mascot and recipe photos.
Render: Our backend hosting platform that processes your requests and connects the app to our database.
5. Data Security
We prioritize the security of your data. However, please remember that no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure.
6. Children's Privacy
Our app does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13.
7. Data Retention and Deletion
Data Retention: We keep your personal information, such as your profile data, recipes, posts, and progress, for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with CookiMate's services.
Data Deletion: You have the right to request the complete deletion of your personal data at any time. When an account is deleted, we permanently remove your account, profile data, posts, recipes, and media from our active databases (Firebase, MongoDB Atlas, and Cloudinary).
You can delete your account and all associated data using either of the following methods:
In-App Deletion: Navigate to your Profile page, open Settings, and select "Delete Account."
Web Request: If you no longer have the app installed, you can request data deletion by filling out our secure form here: https://forms.gle/3685AvijfbhhEHTd7
(Note: Data deletion requests submitted via the web form will be processed and completed within 30 days).
