Privacy Policy
Effective Date: September 9, 2026
Clipy (“Clipy,” “the Application,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is operated by Matthew Swartz.
Clipy is designed to keep your clipboard data private. The Application does not require an account and does not operate a cloud service for storing your clipboard history.
Clipboard Data
Clipy accesses text you copy in order to provide clipboard history and sharing features.
Clipboard history is stored locally on your device. We do not receive, store, or have access to the contents of your clipboard.
On iPhone and iPad, clipboard access is subject to Apple’s platform restrictions and permissions. Clipy does not continuously read your clipboard while running in the background.
Nearby Device Sharing
Clipy can send clipboard text directly between trusted Apple devices on your local network.
When you choose to send a clip to another device, the clipboard content is transmitted directly between the participating devices. Clipboard contents are not routed through or stored on servers operated by us.
Nearby sharing uses encrypted connections between devices.
Local Network Access
Clipy may request permission to access your local network in order to discover and communicate with nearby devices running Clipy.
Local network access is used only to provide device discovery and nearby sharing functionality.
Information We Collect
We do not collect personal information, clipboard contents, clipboard history, device identifiers, browsing history, search history, or usage analytics through the Application.
We do not use advertising SDKs or tracking technologies, and we do not sell or share personal information for advertising purposes.
Apple may independently collect certain information relating to App Store downloads, purchases, diagnostics, or usage under Apple’s own privacy practices. We do not control Apple’s collection of that information.
Data Storage and Retention
Clipboard history and related Application data are stored locally on your device.
You can remove locally stored clipboard information using the controls available in Clipy or by deleting the Application. Because we do not maintain a server-side copy of your clipboard history, we do not retain that information after it is removed from your device.
Third Parties
Clipy does not provide clipboard contents or clipboard history to third-party analytics providers, advertising networks, or data brokers.
If this changes in a future version of Clipy, this Privacy Policy and the Application’s App Store privacy disclosures will be updated accordingly.
Children’s Privacy
Clipy is not designed to collect personal information from children. Because we do not collect personal information through the Application, we do not knowingly maintain personal information relating to children.
Security
Clipy is designed to minimize the amount of information transmitted away from your device. Nearby clipboard transfers are made directly between participating devices using encrypted connections.
No method of electronic transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect information handled by the Application.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to Clipy or applicable requirements. The updated policy will include a revised effective date.
