This privacy policy applies to the Clearbook app (hereby referred to as "Application") for mobile devices, created by Rameez Hashmi (hereby referred to as "Service Provider") as a Free service. This service is intended for use "AS IS".
Information Collection and Use
The Application is designed to keep your financial data private and on your device. Specifically:
- All financial data — including imported bank statements, transactions, categories, loans, and net worth — is stored exclusively on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework.
- The Service Provider does not have access to, and does not collect, any of your financial data.
- During onboarding, the Application may ask for optional profile information (such as your name, age range, and job type) to personalise your experience. This information is stored locally on your device only and is never transmitted to the Service Provider.
- The Application does not collect your device's IP address, track pages visited, or monitor time spent within the Application.
Third-Party AI Services (Anthropic)
The Application offers an optional AI-Powered mode. If you choose to enable this mode, you will be presented with a consent screen before any data is transmitted.
When AI-Powered mode is enabled:
- Transaction merchant names, descriptions, dates, and amounts from your bank statements are sent to Anthropic, Inc. ("Anthropic"), the maker of the Claude AI.
- This data is sent solely for the purpose of (a) detecting your bank's statement column layout on import, and (b) automatically classifying your transactions into spending categories.
- This data is not linked to your identity, not used for advertising, and not used to train Anthropic's AI models.
- Anthropic processes this data under their own privacy policy, which you can review at: https://www.anthropic.com/legal/privacy
- If you do not consent, or if you switch to Manual Mode, no financial data is ever sent to Anthropic or any external service.
- You can change your mode at any time in the Application's Settings.
Third Party Access
The Service Provider does not share, sell, or transmit your personal data to any third parties, except as described in the Third-Party AI Services section above (Anthropic, when AI mode is enabled with your explicit consent), or as required by law.
The Service Provider may disclose information only:
- As required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena or similar legal process;
- When necessary in good faith to protect the rights, safety, or security of users or others;
- In response to a lawful government request.
Opt-Out Rights
You can disable AI features at any time by switching to Manual Mode in Settings → Processing Mode. In Manual Mode, no data is sent to any external service. You can also stop all use of the Application by uninstalling it using the standard processes available on your device or via the App Store.
Data Retention Policy
All financial data is stored on your device and under your control. You can delete all app data at any time via Settings → Data & Privacy → Delete All App Data. If you have any questions about data, please contact the Service Provider at hashmirameez@gmail.com.
Children
The Service Provider does not use the Application to knowingly solicit data from or market to children under the age of 13. The Service Provider encourages parents and legal guardians to monitor their children's usage. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the Application, please contact hashmirameez@gmail.com. You must be at least 16 years of age to consent to the processing of your personal information (or your parent/guardian may do so on your behalf where permitted).
Security
The Service Provider is committed to safeguarding your information. All financial data remains on your device. When AI mode is enabled, data transmitted to Anthropic is sent over encrypted HTTPS connections.
Changes
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. The Service Provider will notify you of any changes by updating this page. Continued use of the Application constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
This privacy policy is effective as of 2026-04-21.
Your Consent
By using the Application, you consent to the processing of your information as described in this Privacy Policy. By enabling AI-Powered mode, you additionally consent to your transaction data being sent to Anthropic, Inc. for processing as described above.
