CarLife Log — Privacy Policy

CarLife Log is an offline-first vehicle maintenance and fuel tracker. This policy describes what data we collect, how it is used, and your choices.

1. Data We Collect

Vehicle and maintenance data: Vehicle details, maintenance records, fuel logs, notes, categories, and costs entered by you.

Attachments: Photos or files you choose to attach to records (e.g., receipts, invoices). Stored only on your device.

App preferences: Language, theme, and basic settings saved locally.

Purchase status: Information about premium entitlement to unlock features.

Connectivity status: Online/offline indicator (no location tracking).

2. How We Store Data

Local only (by design): All user-entered data and attachments are stored on your device using Hive (local database). We do not run our own servers and do not transmit your records to us.

Backups/exports: If you export data (JSON/ZIP/PDF), the files are created locally. You choose how and where to share or store them.

3. How We Use Data

To display and manage your vehicle, maintenance, and fuel history.

To generate offline reports and summaries.

To remember your app settings (language, theme, filters).

To verify premium access after in-app purchases.

4. Third-Party Services

Google Play Billing: Used for in-app purchases. Google may process purchase-related identifiers and payment information. We do not receive your payment details.

Google Mobile Ads (AdMob): Ads may collect device identifiers and usage data per Google's policies. Consent and personalized ads are controlled by Google's SDK and your platform settings.

Image/Document pickers: Used only when you select a file/photo to attach; files remain local unless you choose to share/export them.

Notifications: Used to remind you about maintenance. No data leaves your device.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell or share your data with third parties. Data leaves your device only when you explicitly export/share files or interact with third-party SDKs noted above (billing/ads).

6. Your Choices and Controls

Stay local: Use the app entirely offline; your data remains on-device.

Export/backup: You can export your data. Manage and store exports where you prefer.

Delete data: Uninstalling the app removes local data. You can also delete records and attachments in-app before uninstalling.

Ads and consent: Manage ad personalization via your device settings and Google's consent prompts.

7. Children's Privacy

The app is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

8. Security

Data is stored locally on your device. Protect your device with a passcode/biometrics. We do not operate a backend and therefore do not hold your data on servers.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. The effective date will reflect the latest version. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
