Privacy Policy for CarExp

This Privacy Policy explains how CarExp accesses, stores, uses, and shares data when you use the app.
1. What CarExp does
CarExp is a vehicle journal app. It lets users store information such as cars, maintenance records, fuelings, expenses, notes, reminders, reports, and optional attachments.
2. Data processed by the app
Depending on the features you use, CarExp may process the following categories of data:
- vehicle information, such as car name, brand, model, year, VIN/body number, mileage, engine hours, and fuel tank capacity;
- vehicle journal data, such as service records, expenses, fueling entries, notes, hashtags, reminders, filters, reports, and trip-related values;
- attachments that you choose to add, such as photos, files, or links;
- Google account email address used for optional Google Drive authorization;
- account name selected on the device if you use the optional account-name activation method;
- purchase information handled by Google Play if you use the optional Play purchase flow;
- technical app configuration values retrieved through Firebase Remote Config for the activation information screen.
3. How data is used
CarExp uses data to provide the app’s functions, including:
- displaying and organizing your car journal;
- calculating costs, fuel-related values, and reports;
- creating reminders and notifications;
- saving local backups and restoring data;
- synchronizing data between devices when you explicitly enable local or cloud sync;
- uploading and downloading backup/sync data to and from your own Google Drive when you authorize that feature;
- showing activation-related information and optional purchase status.
4. When data is shared
CarExp does not display third-party ads.
Data may be transmitted to third-party service providers only when needed for the corresponding feature:
- Google Drive / Google Identity: if you use optional backup or cloud sync through Google Drive;
- Google Play Billing: if you use the optional Play purchase flow;
- Firebase Remote Config: for downloading app configuration values used on the activation information screen.
If you do not use these optional features, the related data transfer may not occur.
5. Data storage
Core app data is primarily stored locally on your device. If you enable backup or cloud sync, copies of your app data and attachments may also be stored in your own Google Drive storage.
6. Permissions
Depending on Android version and features used, CarExp may request permissions such as camera access for taking attachment photos, notifications for reminder alerts, exact alarm scheduling for reminders, internet/network access for cloud features, and overlay-related access for specific startup/notification flows.
7. Retention and deletion
Your data remains on your device until you edit or delete it, uninstall the app, clear app data, or restore/replace it from a backup. If you upload backups or synchronized data to Google Drive, retention of those copies depends on your actions in Google Drive and within the app.
8. Children
CarExp is not designed specifically for children.
9. Security
Reasonable efforts are made to use platform and provider security mechanisms available for storage, authentication, and network communication. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
