Introduction

Billable ("we", "our", or "the app") is a time tracking and invoicing app for freelancers. Your privacy is not a feature. It is the foundation of everything we build. This Privacy Policy explains how Billable handles your data.

Data Collection

Billable does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers. All your data, including work logs, timer sessions, client information, invoices, templates, goals, and business profile, is stored exclusively on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework.

On-Device Storage

All app data is stored locally on your device, including:

  • Work log entries (clients, projects, hours, rates, tags)
  • Timer sessions
  • Weekly goals
  • Entry templates and recurring rules
  • Business profile information (name, address, logo)
  • Invoice history and preferences
  • App preferences and settings

iCloud Sync

If you have iCloud enabled on your device, Billable uses Apple's CloudKit to sync your data across your personal devices. This sync is:

  • Optional — it relies on your device's iCloud settings
  • Encrypted — data is protected by Apple's iCloud security
  • Private — your data is stored in your personal iCloud container and is never accessible to us or any third party

We do not operate any servers. We cannot access your iCloud data.

On-Device AI

Billable's AI features, including smart suggestions, earnings forecasting, and client health monitoring, run entirely on your device using Apple's on-device intelligence. No data is sent to external AI services, APIs, or servers for processing.

Analytics and Tracking

Billable does not use any analytics, tracking, or telemetry services. We do not collect:

  • Usage patterns or app behavior
  • Device identifiers or fingerprints
  • Location data
  • Crash reports (beyond what you opt into via Apple's standard crash reporting)
  • Any form of advertising identifiers

Third-Party Services

Billable does not integrate with any third-party data services. The only external services involved are:

  • Apple StoreKit — for processing in-app purchases and subscriptions. Payment is handled entirely by Apple. We do not receive or store your payment details.
  • Apple CloudKit — for optional iCloud sync across your devices, governed by Apple's privacy policy.
  • Apple Calendar (EventKit) — accessed only with your explicit permission to import calendar events as time entries. Calendar data is read locally and never transmitted.

Subscriptions

Billable offers optional Pro subscriptions (monthly, yearly, and lifetime) through Apple's App Store. All payment processing is handled by Apple. We do not have access to your credit card number, billing address, or other financial details.

Data Deletion

You can delete all your data at any time from within the app via Settings → Delete All Data. This permanently removes all work entries, templates, goals, business profile, and timer data from your device. If iCloud sync is enabled, the deletion will propagate to your other devices.

Children's Privacy

Billable is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
