Aussie Invoice — Privacy Policy

Aussie Invoice (“the App”, “we”, “us”) helps you create and manage invoices on your device. This policy explains what information we process, how we use it, and your choices.
Short version: Your invoice data lives on your device. We don’t run a backend and we don’t sell your data. Backups to Google Drive are optional and only happen if you turn them on.

2. What data the App processes
2.1 Invoice & business data (you enter it)
- Client/business details (e.g., name, ABN, addresses, line items).
- Invoices and exports you create (PDF, CSV, JSON).
Where it’s stored: Locally on your device (app storage and the folder you choose, typically Download/AussieInvoice). If you enable Google Drive sync, copies of your JSON backups are uploaded to your Google Drive (see §5). We do not receive or store your invoices on our servers (we don’t have a server).
2.2 Device & app info (for functionality)
- Basic device/app info (model, OS version, app version) used locally to support features and troubleshooting.
- We do not use analytics SDKs that track you across apps.
2.3 Advertising (Google AdMob)
We show ads via Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers and diagnostics to deliver/measure ads. You can opt out of personalised ads in the device settings (reset Advertising ID / “Opt out of Ads Personalization”). We may request non-personalised ads in some views.
Note on encryption: At this time the App does not apply app-side encryption to JSON backups. If you need additional protection, secure your device and Google account (screen lock, 2-step verification) and manage Drive sharing carefully.
3. How we use data
- Generate invoices and exports (PDF/CSV/JSON) and show files in the folder you select.
- If you enable scheduled backups, the App creates local JSON backups at your chosen interval.
- If you enable Drive sync, the App uploads backups to your Google Drive with the minimal scope (see §5).
- Show in-app ads (AdMob).
- Improve reliability and security (e.g., safe file access via Android Storage Access Framework).
We do not sell or monetise your data.
4. Where data is stored & retention
- On device: Your working data and exports are stored locally. You may delete them at any time from within the App (where supported) or using the system file manager.
- Cloud (optional): If you enable Drive sync, backups are stored in your Google Drive under a folder typically named “Aussie Invoice Backup.” You can remove them from Drive at any time.
- Retention: We keep no server copy. Local and cloud retention are controlled by you.
5. Google Drive sync (optional)
We use Google Sign-In and the Google Drive API with the least privilege scope: https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file. This limits access to files the App created or files you explicitly open with the system picker.
The App may cache locally:
- A Drive folder identifier (to place future backups).
- A small offline queue of backups waiting for connectivity (cleared once uploaded).
We do not access your entire Drive, and we do not share Drive content with third parties.
No Drive? The App works locally. You can export and manage backups in Download/AussieInvoice.
6. Permissions & access
- Storage Access Framework (SAF): When you pick a folder (e.g., Download/AussieInvoice), Android grants the App read/write access only to that folder. You can revoke it in system settings.
- Internet: Required for ads and (if enabled) Drive sync.
- We do not request legacy external-storage permissions restricted by Google Play policies.
7. Security
We follow platform best practices (SAF, scoped storage) and avoid any central server to reduce exposure. Backups to Drive are transmitted via Google’s infrastructure and protected by your Google account security. Because the App does not add its own encryption at this time, please protect your device and account (screen lock, secure backup folder, 2-step verification).
8. Your choices & rights
In-App controls
- Create, export, import, and delete invoices and backups.
- Enable/disable scheduled backups and Drive sync at any time.
Australia (APPs)
- You can access and correct your personal information stored on your device.
- Privacy complaints: contact us first (see §1). If unresolved, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
EEA/UK (GDPR)
- Legal bases: performance of a contract (features you request), consent (Drive sync, ads settings), legitimate interests (security, basic app operation).
- Rights: access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection. Contact us (see §1).
California (CCPA/CPRA)
- We do not sell your personal information.
- You can contact us to exercise access/deletion rights.
9. Children
Aussie Invoice is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
10. International transfers
If you enable Drive sync, your backups are processed by Google using global infrastructure, which may involve transfers outside your country. See Google’s privacy documentation for details.

12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the App evolves. We’ll update the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you in-app. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
