Appointment Unplugged is an appointment book for small businesses. It has no accounts and no servers of its own. This policy explains what happens to your information.

Your business data stays on your phone

Appointments, clients (names, phone numbers, emails, birthdays, notes), services, expenses and settings are saved only on your phone. We never receive them, and we have no way to see them.

They leave your phone only when you choose to send them:

  • Backups are saved to a folder you pick (by hand, or on their own with Automatic backup, free in every version), or sent with the app you pick (for example Quick Share, email or a chat app).
  • Messages to clients open WhatsApp, Viber, your SMS app or another app you pick, with the text filled in. You send the message from that app.
  • CSV files you import or export are read from and saved to places you choose.

Android's own backup to your Google account may include the app's data if you have it turned on in your phone's settings. That backup is handled by Google under your Google account.

The day your free trial started is kept in Google Block Store in your Google account, so reinstalling the app doesn't start a new trial. It is only a date, nothing about you or your clients, and we can't read it.

Keeping it safe on the phone

The app keeps its data where other apps can't read it. What protects it is your phone's own screen lock, so keep one set. The optional app lock also asks for your fingerprint or PIN when the app is opened, for when someone else is using your phone.

While the app lock is on, backups are locked too (encrypted), so a backup file can't be read by other apps or by anyone who finds it. The key that opens them is kept on your phone, and a copy is saved in Google Block Store in your Google account. That copy is end-to-end encrypted with your phone's screen lock, so neither Google nor we can read it. It lets your backups open on a new phone that you set up from your Google account. You also get a recovery code to write down, for a new phone set up without it.

Without the app lock, backup and export files are ordinary files. Anyone who can use your unlocked phone, or the place where you saved or sent them, can open them. Keep them somewhere private and delete ones you no longer need.

Contacts

The app reads your phone's contacts only when you choose to import clients from them, and only the contacts you select are saved as clients, with their name, phone number and, when you have allowed access, their email and birthday. The "Pick one contact" and "Fill from contacts" options use Android's own picker and need no permission (they then bring the name and phone number only).

Ads (free version only)

The free version shows ads from Google AdMob. Google may collect information from your phone, such as the advertising ID, the device model and a rough location from the IP address, to show and measure ads. In the European Union, the United Kingdom and other places where the law requires it, the app asks for your consent first, and you can change your choice at any time in Settings → About → Ad privacy choices. The ads never receive your business data. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services.

With Premium, the app shows no ads and does not start the ad service at all.

Purchases, reviews and updates

Premium is bought through Google Play. Google handles the payment; the app only learns whether Premium was bought. The app also uses Google Play to ask once whether you'd like to rate it, and to tell you when a newer version is out. Both happen inside Google Play: the app never learns your rating, and neither sends your business data. See the Google Play privacy policy.

The assistant (Premium)

The assistant runs entirely on your phone. If you choose to download an AI model, it is downloaded from Hugging Face (huggingface.co), which, like any website, sees your IP address when the file is downloaded. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.

To see whether your phone has a built-in AI model (Gemini Nano), the app uses Google's ML Kit when you use the assistant. ML Kit sends Google basic technical details for diagnostics: the device and app, how well the feature worked, and error codes. It does not send what you type or your business data, and Google does not share it with third parties. See ML Kit's data disclosure.

No tracking

The app adds no analytics or crash-reporting service of its own. If the app crashes, Google Play may share anonymous crash reports with us if you allowed this in your phone's settings.

Children

The app is made for business owners and is not aimed at children.

Deleting your data

Uninstalling the app, or clearing its data in your phone's settings, deletes everything it saved on the phone. Backups you saved elsewhere stay where you saved them.

Changes and contact
