Data Collection and Storage
We do not collect, store, share, or sell any of your personal data. The extension operates entirely locally on your device (Chrome browser).
- No Tracking: We do not use any third-party analytics or tracking tools.
- No Remote Servers: We do not operate any backend servers to store your data.
Local Data Usage
The extension uses your browser's local storage (Chrome Storage API) solely for the following purposes:
1. Saving your preferences: To improve your user experience, we locally save your settings such as your preferred tone, language, model selection, and length constraints.
2. Saving your API Key: Your OpenAI API key is stored locally on your device to authenticate requests to OpenAI. It is never sent to us or any other third party besides OpenAI directly.
3. Caching generated content: The most recently generated text may be temporarily stored locally to display it in the popup window.
Third-Party Services (OpenAI)
This extension acts as a client interface between your browser and the OpenAI API.
- User-Selected Data Only: Text data is sent to OpenAI only when you explicitly select text and trigger the "Generate Social Post" command.
- Direct Connection: Your browser communicates directly with OpenAI's servers (api.openai.com) using the API key you provide. We do not act as an intermediary and cannot view this traffic.
- OpenAI's Privacy Policy: The processing of data sent to OpenAI is subject to OpenAI's Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review their policy to understand how they handle API data.
User Rights and Control
Since we do not collect or hold any of your data, there is no data for us to delete or modify upon request. You have full control over your data:
- You can clear the extension's local storage at any time by removing the extension or clearing your browser's browsing data.
- You can revoke or change your OpenAI API key at any time through your OpenAI account dashboard.
